DEFINITION: To find something you really want in a shop, but then, since you cannot buy it immediately, to hide it so that no one else will get it.
DEFINITION: To wish for peace on earth, and then do something to help make it happen.
DEFINITION: To inspire and motivate people to do great things, by issuing petty threats.
DEFINITION: v., To run out of batteries during the holidays, especially on Christmas morning when all the kids and half the adults are screaming for their new toys. n., A battery or personal energy shortage created by over-consumption.
DEFINITION: v., To show appreciation for a gift, even if it is something that you do not really need or want, by feigning joy. n., A faked display of gratitude.
DEFINITION: v., To receive a gift covered in previously used wrap. n., Recycled gift-wrap, may or may not suit the occasion.
DEFINITION: v., To prepare for holiday events where you must chat with irritating co-workers or nagging relatives, by consuming just enough alcohol to make you feel "relaxed". n., A person who arrives at a party pre-inebriated.
DEFINITION: n., 1. A pine needle infestation, common during and after the holiday season. 2. Prickly Christmas guests who will not leave and cannot be cleaned up. v., To fall down during a holiday party and hide under a rug.
