If only Tom had stuck to planting freesias and daffodils. Those bulbs love a good cold spell. A frost won't blightbulbs.

Great comment petaj! :-) I'd say that Tom is not the brightest bulb in the bed, but he's brilliant in every other way. He just needs to pay more attention to that whole "last frost date" thing. Toadstool - I didn't plant artichokes this year - I didn't get them started in time. However, it appears that I'm growing a healthy and abundant crop of whatever those cows ate. :-( I obviously lack "inshite". (Thanks for that word Galway!)

Yeah, it's pretty nice. I don't have any cows though - not enough land, but chickens aren't out of the question!
