Pollycoddle

Created by: Nosila

Pronunciation: pol lee kod del

Sentence: When Old Lady Harris finally passed on from Shaker's Acres to the Great Beyond, the only thing she left her niece, Bethany, was her beloved, Hyacinth Macaw parrot, Polly. Polly could talk, incessantly, as it turns out and demanded all Bethany's attention. It turns out, too, her aunt had treated Polly like a baby and as a result she had been able to pollycoddle the raucous bird and spoil her rotten. When Polly did not get her way she screached and swore loudly. "Oh well," thought Bethany, "at least she also left me a few bucks to buy food and supplies for the bird". It was with horror then that Bethany read that parrots like Polly lived to the age of one hundred!

Inpetyougush

Created by: Nosila

Pronunciation: in pet u gush

Sentence: Simone realized she was a pet owner who was impetyougush. She had found Marshmallow, her white Persian cat when a kitten and raised her to sleek adulthood. Marshmallow slept 16-20 hours a day on the top of the couch. Simone fed her, cleaned out her stink box and just when she felt unappreciated, Marshmallow would roll over on her back and look adorable. When Simone came home from a hard day, Marshmallow would reach our her paw and touch Simone, so that she had no choice but to pat her. Then the purring would commence and Simone would unwind and relax. She soon realized that people measured cats' intelligence by their own standards. If you were an impartial observer, you'd wonder who was smarter: a cat who did whatever it wanted all day long with no accountability or pressures or the stupid human who raced home from a hard day at work to strain poop out of kitty litter, fill up the food bowl and put clean water in a dish and then hope the animal you did all that for would grace you with a purr or tummy rub offer or rub against your legs. Yep, cats aren't the stupid ones, are they??

Etymology: Impetuous (characterized by undue haste and lack of thought or deliberation) & Pet (preferred above all others and treated with partiality; a domesticated animal kept for companionship or amusement) & You Gush (you give an unrestrained expression of emotion)

Prefurred

Created by: readerwriter

Pronunciation: pree-fuhrrd

Sentence: "Who is my Little Man?" the master always asked and then answered, "I am...I'm your Little Man." The L.M. knew it wasn't the dog who had to live outside. He, the Little Man, knew he was prefurred. Who else had people talking for him? Who else got to sleep on every couch and bed in a stream of sunshine throughout every day? Who else got to lick clean every bowl of yoghurt or ice cream? Who else got his ears and neck rubbed until his eyes rolled back in his head? Who else got to manipulate (manipawlate?) to shreds with impunity (impawnity?) every soft coverlet and carpet in the house? No one else--no one, but The Little Man...that's who!

Etymology: Using PREFERRED, meaning to be favored + FUR, meaning an animal skin, hair
