Notoriously filthy? No. Pigs are naturally very clean and avoid, if at all possible, soiling their living areas! Their confinement is man-made. But I like your word.

Yeah, rolling in the mud is a clear sign of hygiene obsession! Also note that the Bible (you know, that reliable classic) calls swine "unclean". Most importantly, it was a befittingly crude generalization.
