Sentence: Fritz was a merry old soul. He was no scrooge when it came to giftgiving, often presenting expensive gifts to his friends. Fritz lived alone with his muttonchop sideburns, and as the years went on, he developed a strange habit of recycling used giftwrap. He had become a DOPPELPACKERATZEL- an eccentric double-packing enigma who ironed the creases from Christmas paper and stored it in the attic to use again and again. He once gave Eva an ersatz Swiss watch wrapped in yellowed paper which had been used at least thrice. Eva was bemused by the fact she had been DOPPELPACKERATZELED again this year. Fritz was an endearing dumbkopf, and folks had been known to receive Braun coffee makers wrapped in paper festooned with Easter Bunnies...... Was können Sie tun?

DOPPELPACKERATZEL.....DOPPELganger+PACKER+RATSEL= DOPPELPACKERATZEL.....DOPPELGANGER:an evil ghostly counterpart of a living person, literally "double goer";German Doppelgänger, from doppel- double + -gänger goer.....PACKER:to enclose in a package or covering,to present (as a product) in such a way as to heighten its appeal to the recipient;origin clouded.....RATSEL:something hard to understand or explain,an inscrutable or mysterious person;literally "enigma" in German;Latin aenigma, from Greek ainigmat-, ainigma, from ainissesthai to speak in riddles, from ainos fable. Sentence: Her Christmas rhapsody turned to crapsody when her chapsody's gift came wrapped in old magazine pages. Colorful as they were, she knew he'd never paid for a magazine in his life, so this gift was done up in wrapsofree. His gift to her from the Gapsody would have been better received if he had not stolen pages from his Dadsody's stash of Playboys. For that he got a slapsody, after which he needed a napsody!

Etymology: Wrap (covering on a gift) & So Free (no cost), wordplay on rhapsody...which this is not!

Sentence: Benjamin always used thriftwrap for his gifts. He reclaimed all wrappings from gifts he received throughout the year and sometimes reused styrofoam take-out containers as boxes. He was careful to wash all traces of food out of them first. His friends were sometimes "befuddled" though as the paper he had around the house did not always match the occasion.

Etymology: thrift (parsimony: extreme care in spending money; reluctance to spend money unnecessarily) + wrap (enclose or enfold completely with or as if with a covering)
