Etymology: This word has a different embedded meaning for the giver and receiver of wasdom. In the former, it is a combination of WASteD and WisDOM. For those who fail to heed the advice the meaning fits the words WAS and WiSDOM, meaning it had value, but is currently worthless information. It also sounds like a common utterance by both parties after an avoidable mistake leads to an unfortunate outcome: "That was dumb!"
