Sighborespace

Created by: Nosila

Pronunciation: sye bor space

Sentence: Anne had really looked forward to this party. It was a mixer at the University, designed to introduce students and staff to each other. Being an Arts Major, she was naturally drawn to those gents of similar minds. A handsome, albeit serious-looking young man had caught her eye and offered her a drink. She was delighted and after accepting the glass of wine had asked him about his faculty (Nuclear Physics)and his hobbies. Big Mistake. Turns out Jim T. Kirk (his real name) was a Star Trekkie. Not just a mindless follower, but President of the local Chapter and organizer of the Annual Star Trek Convention. It was like a religion to him and when she made the error of asking him how he got into it, he told her e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. How his Dad was a Trekkie and how he was sure his Mother was really a Vulcan. How there were Klingons amoung us dressed like Earthlings.(On that point, she had to agree.) He went on ad nauseum and Anne felt paralysed (Phasers on Stunned) and could not escape. She yawned and sighed and acted as though she were in Sighborespace. Guys like Jim T. Kirk hover in their own orbit, so he did not notice. How could she beam herself up and escape the entire narration of Episode 27? Oh, to be the disposable crew member in each episode...how she envied them. Hoping the mixer, or the destruction of the earth, would end soon, she heard the words of Scotty (in her head) in his Scottish burl say, "Cap'n, She'll nay go any faster!" At that point she knew, that all Jim T. Kirk and his ilk took up in School was Space!

Etymology: Sigh (an utterance made by exhaling audibly; a sound like a person sighing;heave or utter a sigh; breathe deeply and heavily) & Bore (cause to be bored;tired of the world;uninterested because of frequent exposure or indulgence)
