Wishbane
Created by: OZZIEBOB
Pronunciation: WISH-bane
Sentence: When Bob broke off the larger part of the wishbone, he thought that he was in for a spate of good luck. And, immediately, it seemed that good luck had come his way when Bob - a great wine lover- received news that he had inherited a vineyard from his late uncle. But when he realized that it was sitting on the edge of the Great Australian Desert, and had only ever produced harvests of sour grapes, he began to think that his furculations were nothing more than a wishbane.
Etymology: Based on wishbone and the custom of two people, making secret wishes, tug on opposite end of a furcula of a fowl. For the person who breaks off the larger piece the wish comes true. Bane: something or someone that causes unhappiness or distress.
