The icebox door was ajar, and a greasy streak led out to the moors like the trail of an irradiated slug. Perhaps, with a little more work, his breakthrough in supernatural food preservation WAS possible, thought Charles as he tenderly slipped Heidi's remains, and her Swiffer, into the grey waters beside the pier.
