Very unique and stunning in it's simplicity ... once I read the etymology ... I got it! Finally! Very unique! - silveryaspen, 2008-02-06: 07:38:00
Eponymic words, a great way to go! - OZZIEBOB, 2008-02-06: 16:32:00
Apparently I exceeded the character limit on the etymology here. And the sentence is absolutely true. Except that I really had only just started the project. And I didn't actually deform my mouse. And I guess I wasn't really all that upset either. - ErWenn, 2008-02-06: 23:19:00
I try to change it up every now and then. Only so much portmanteau I can take, so sometimes I try to coin words after people, conjugate or rearrange phrases (a la Mustang's "heartwrench"), or piece together a word from prefixes, roots, and suffixes (as in "necrohippoflict"). Sadly, I rarely get any votes when I do. - ErWenn, 2008-02-06: 23:22:00

Asceticlysm
Created by: metrohumanx
Pronunciation: uh-SET-uh-clizzum
Sentence: Waldo worked for a college and took a free course on "creating your own web page". In a spirit of altruism and public service, he spent three months creating the BEST eye-popping website this side of the Mississippi, with useful links to all the academic disciplines. When he submitted his labor of love to the academic dean, he was informed that "Staff don't get websites. only Faculty get websites". After a brief primal scream, an ASCETICLYSM descended upon Waldo's heart like a ton of dross. He gradually came to realize that his website made others look pallid in comparison, and after terminating his bitter employment with Bogus Community College, Waldo now sends his links one at a time - to people who can appreciate them. Attachment, loss, frustration and desire are all facets of the same glittery jewel which only result in sorrow. He's now building a scale model of the Eiffel tower - if only he can obtain enough toothpicks.
Etymology: ASCETIC+cataCLYSM=ASCETICLYSM..........ASCETIC:practicing strict self-denial as a measure of personal discipline, austere in appearance, manner, or attitude;Greek askētikos, literally, laborious, from askētēs one that exercises, hermit, from askein to work, exercise.....CATACLYSM:catastrophe,a momentous and violent event marked by overwhelming upheaval and demolition ; broadly : an event that brings great changes.French cataclysme, from Latin cataclysmos, from Greek kataklysmos, from kataklyzein to inundate, from kata- + klyzein to wash.
